Structured Literacy Intervention uses evidence-based approaches to assist children with literacy skills. It is multi-sensory and systematic, and includes language aspects such as phonological awareness, phonics, semantics, syntax, and morphology.
Structured Literacy is beneficial both for students with diagnoses such as dyslexia as well as many children without any diagnoses that may benefit from a multi-sensory, systematic, sequential approach to literacy. Often children that are simply reading or writing below grade level will greatly benefit from such an approach.
Oftentimes, coexisting factors contribute to a student's learning challenges. A student may benefit from a combination of evidence-based literacy intervention and executive function supports, both designed to address the underlying cognitive and linguistic processes that support academic success.
